Based on 300 Program Planning survey responses from Leagues received by the March 1, 2022, deadline, the LWVUS Board recommends retaining all current LWVUS Positions in the areas of Representative Government, International Relations, Natural Resources, and Social Policy.
The LWVUS Board recommends a League-wide Campaign for Making Democracy Work®: Voting Rights, Improving Elections, Campaign Finance/Money in Politics, and Redistricting.
The LWVUS Board also recommends a concurrence with the LWV New York State Health Care Update and the LWV California Criminal Justice position in accordance with LWVUS Bylaws Article XII, Sec.2.
What is the Campaign for Making Democracy Work® (CMDW)?
The League-wide Campaign for Making Democracy Work® program includes focused work, at all levels of government, on Voting Rights, Improving Elections, Campaign Finance/Money in Politics, and Redistricting.

When was the deadline for making program recommendations?
The deadline was March 1, 2022. According to Bylaw XII, all program recommendations need to be submitted at least three months before the first day of convention.

What are Program Priorities?
Program includes studies and concurrences, as well as the major focus for the organization for an upcoming biennium. It is the shared work that Leagues do across the country.
What are Legislative Priorities?
Legislative Priorities are advocacy and education issues set by Leagues at the beginning of each legislative session to direct potential for action in the legislative and executive branches. The level of League follows the level of government and thus legislative priorities are set at the appropriate level of League for action.

When does Program debate take place at Convention?
What is a vote for consideration?
A vote for consideration is exactly what it says. Delegates vote on proposed program items on June 24 to determine if they want to move the item forward to debate and vote on it on June 26. This is the equivalent of signing a petition to get something on the ballot. You are not for it or against it; you just think that it is worthy of debate and discussion.
How many votes are needed to pass a study or program item?
A simple majority is needed to pass all program items, except concurrences.
How many votes to pass a concurrence?
A 2/3 vote is needed to pass a concurrence on the floor of convention.
What are Resolutions and when do they come to the convention floor?
Resolutions express the will of the Convention body during the time of its convening. Votes on Resolutions take place at the Sunday June 26 plenary following Program debate and votes.
The Resolutions Committee meets Wednesday, June 22 from 6:00 –7:00 PM.
